European Talent Award: filmmuziekwedstrijd voor jonge componisten
27.07.2010
Soundtrack_Cologne organiseert een prijs voor de creatie van een soundtrack bij een kortfilm. Deadline voor de wedstrijd is 31 oktober 2010.For the first time the winner will have the chance to create the original score/sounddesign for a short film. So far the film provided for this year's competition has no score/sounddesign. Entry deadline for the competition is 31 October 2010.
SoundTrack_Cologne will continue the successful co-operation of the last six years with the WDR as part of the EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION. In 2010 the winner of the FILM SCORE category will once again have the opportunity to record his or her own compositions with the WDR Radio Orchestra Cologne - for many young European composers this is the first chance to record a resource for referrals with a major orchestra: „It is an amazing opportunity for a prospective composer to record, without almost any limits, an interesting and orchestral film music – beyond the sample-library-everyday life. A possibility of which I have been dreaming since I was eight years old – and which is unique as a prize“, says Felix Rösch, winner of the EUROPEAN TALENT AWARD 2009 in the category filmscore.
Further a prize for the best SOUNDDESIGN will be awarded. The prize for this category is a two day final mix down for a short film in the SoundVision Tonstudio GmbH Cologne, including the Dolby Digital License.
The twelve finalists will present their work to the jury and the audience. The prize will be awarded at the official gala on 27 November 2010. The entry form, terms and conditions of the competition can be found on www.soundtrackcologne.de, after the registration the film can be downloaded.
For the EUROPEAN TALENT COMPETITION, applicants have to create a new soundtrack to a short movie provided by SoundTrack_Cologne in order to participate in the categories FILM SCORE and SOUND DESIGN. This year we are proud to provide a short film by Fabian Driehorst, film student of the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne.
What is special with this short film is that it really needs an original score and sound design to be finished. That means the applicants will have the chance to be the original composers/sound designers of the short feature film THE SCRAPMAN. Fabian Driehorst himself will be part of the jury.
Students of music and sound at European universities and young creative professionals up to the age of 30 are entitled to participate. To apply, or for more information go to www.soundtrackcologne.de.
